That was championship baseball tonight by the Phils. They go into the bottom of the ninth inning trailing by four runs and rally to win it.
They're putting an end to all of the talk about not being able to win at home. They're 9-1 during this homestand so far. Tomorrow they'll try to get a sweep of the Pirates just before the All-Star game.
The fact that They didn't even get a solid outing from Cole Hamels, says a lot.
The Phils have the kind of talent to come back in the ninth, especially against a bad team like the Pirates.
Matt Stairs rips a home run to start it out.
Ryan Howard did a great job tonight. He walked twice, which means he's hitting with discipline. Howard is a monster when he's only swining at strikes. He goes on stretches where he's hitting home runs going out of style.
Now after saying all of that, if their pitching doesn't improve, I don't see them surviving in the playoffs versus all of the good pitching they're going to see.
Pitching has been and always will be the key..
They're going to need Hamels to get it together and two to three other guys to develop some consistency..
