Sending In Play With High-Tech

The coach will make a decision on a play on the sideline and the play will show up on the sweatband of the quarterback in the huddle.  It's kind of like text messaging from the sideline.

It's another bit of modern technology coming to pro football, but it's not starting in the NFL.

The United Football League will unveil this new technology.

It's called the ID Coach and it's suppoeed to make it easier for the head coach on the sideline to get the play into the quarterback.

Many of today's plays are very long in terms of terminology.  Some plays take nearly seven to ten seconds to say.

If both the coach and the quarterback have to say the play in order to get it in the ears of the offensive players, it makes it hard for them to beat the play clock.

To get around this, many times you have quarterbacks and other players wearing plastic sleeves on their arms which contains plays.  This technology would be taking that to another level.

I don't think it's really a matter of whether this is going to come to the NFL, it's just a matter of when it's going to come.

Do you want to see more technology in the game or less of it?

This might be especially helpful to the Eagles since they have so many problems getting the play in and called on time.

The coach calling the plays would have to learn how to text.  People do it while driving and do it why eating, why can't the coaches do it on the sideline during the game.
