The Phils checked out Pedro Martinez's shoulder and found out its true condition. In the process they made it sore and that will prevent the Hall-of-Fame bound righty from throwing for a few days.
Pedro said he's willing to start or come out of the bullpen. The plans are to giving him a shot at a starting role and if that fails, then they'll put him in the bullpen.
In the best case scenario, Martinez is supposed to be able to join the Phillies starting rotation in two-to-three weeks according to GM Ruben Amarao Jr.
There's a chance that his rehab will take longer but the Phils have him slated to be pitching throughout the month of August.
During his workouts for the Phils, he was clocking fastballs in the neighborhood of 86-91 miles an hour.
