The Minnesota Vikings owner must have had a talk with head Brad Childress and let him know that if he doesn't advance on the playoffs this year he's gone.
That's the only reason I could see him yielding his team to Brett Favre. Childress has made it clear that the Vikings are operating on Favre's time as compared to vice versa.
It seems Childress is willing to go to any lengths to make sure that Favre lines up under center for them this year. Check out these comments by the Vikings head man to the Minneapolis Star Tribune earlier this week.
"He is pushing to see if he feels like he can make it back. He is not going to play this game unless he can play the way that everybody is used to seeing him play, and it is a work in progress. I know everyone gets concerned about, is it the fourth of the July, is it the week of the 13th, is it the week of the 20th now, when is it going to be?
"It doesn't have to be a minute before training camp, but I think if he is going to do that, he won't miss a day of training camp."
This is why I'm not really a big fan of quarterbacks. They play under a different set of rules than the rest of the team.
All the sportswriters who scream about wide receivers being to "me first", have no problem with quarterbacks doing the same thing. I have a problem with it and I think it's hypocritical.
What do you think the other guys on that team are saying? Here you've got a guy who has never done anything for the Vikings yet he's holding the team hostage.
It's as if he's going to win by himself. Football is a team sport. The team wins, an individual can't win by himself.

I remember when Terrell Owens was doing his best to hold the Eagles hostage and Childress was one of the first to let him know it wasn't going to work that way.
Owens told Childress don't speak to me until I speak to you and Childress wasn't willing to play that game.
I guess he's changed his mind when involves a quarterback and his job is on the line.
