The NFL supplemental draft will take place today. This draft is for players who for various reasons are no longer eligible to play college football, but are old enough to be drafted into the NFL.
It will be conducted by phone and the teams will be able to draft a player at whatever round they deem him worthy of being selected.
The Birds may decide to pick a young defensive end, Jeremy Jarmon, whom they brought into town a month ago to take a look at. The Eagles weren't alone in their interest because the youngster worked out for 17 other NFL teams.
He played for the University of Kentucky until he was ruled ineligible for using a banned substance.
The young man has a good combination of size and speed. He stands 6'3" and weighs 277 pounds. With that size he runs about a 4.8 forty yard dash.
Jaron has a reputation for being able to rush the passer. He totaled 17.5 sacks in his college career and made a total of 30 tackles for losses.
A number of experts say he'll be drafted in either the third or fourth round.
Were the Birds to select him, that might be a sign that they're not all that sure about third year defensive end Victor Abiamiri.
