Eagles CB Ikegwuonu On Trial In Illinois

Story Updated @ 3:15pm – He has been acquitted on all charges. – One Eagle is on the hot seat and training camp hasn't even started.   Second year cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu is on trial in Illinois for burgulary.  He waived a jury trial and a judge is hearing the case..

Ikegwuonu who testified on his own behalf has been accused of trying to steal an XBox game console.

His brother Bob, who was charged with the same crime, was ruled not guilty in a trial that was completed in April.

The closing arguments are scheduled for today as his burgulary case is resumed.  Prosecutors had caled an out of state witness was called to testify and the person was unavailable so it delayed things.

A couple of key bits of evidence that has serviced in the case has been that the person who identified them was drunk at the time. Another point is that Ikegwuonu and his brother claim they were looking for a party when the witness spotted them in the apartment.

During the last OTA workouts, Ikegwuonu was playing behind Eillis Hobbs at the left corner spot.  Of course Hobbs was starting in that position because the starter at that position, Sheldon Brown didn't show up because he's upset with his salary.

If Ikegwuonu is found not guilty, he will be able to resume his career with the Eagles.  If on the other hand he is found guilty, it will likely shut down his football career for some time to come.
