The Phillies are rolling and that' s going to mean there's less of a chance that they trade for Roy Halladay. In the long run, I don't think it helps them win another World Series championship.
In my opinion, you can't win a championship with a starting pitching rotation of Hamels, Blanton, Moyer, Happ, and Martinez or Lopez. There's just not enough consistency in that group.
Despite the tremendous ability by the Phils to score runs, they will not win without good to outstanding starting picthing. Once you get in the playoffs, it's all about pitching.
Look at the Giants. The Phils are a much better team but the Giants have a tremendous rotation. The same is true of the Dodgers.
I say go out and get Halladay despite the fact that the team is on a roll. Get Halladay and go after a few more World Series crowns.
