I hope the Eagles will be open to changing their minds about signing a veteran running back like Warren Dunn. Right now they have no intention of signing one.
According to Philly.com, here's what team president Joe Banner had to say yesterday.
"We're a little inexperienced, but at this point at running back we think we have some real quality people there. We expect that we're going to go into camp and the guys we have are going to put us in a good position to be successful. Running back is one of those positions where younger players can step in and have success."
"We're very optimistic about Westbrook. He's doing great. He's ahead of schedule, but we're still going to be very conservative with him."
I think the key here is the fact that the Birds want to give LeSean McCoy, Lorenzo Booker and Kyle Eckel all the reps they can get.
This makes sense but down the road if they see Brian Westbrook gets behind schedule and his backups can't get it done, they should be quick to get a Warrick Dunn or one of the other veteran running backs in here.
