Eagles president Joe Banner’s comments about the Eagles having the best roster in the NFL” were clearly aimed at Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb.
More specifically it was aimed more at Reid than McNabb but both of them are going to be finished here if they don’t bring a title home in the next two years.
You noticed that was all McNabb was talking about during the news conference to announce the change in his contract.
Joe let his thinking slip out when he was talking to Comcast Sportsnet's Derrick Gunn immediately after the loss to Arizona in the NFC Championship game, when he made that comment about how it’s insane to keep doing the same thing but expecting different results.
He was frustrated at losing that game and let it show. I think Joe is also letting us know what the owner Jeffrey Lurie feels as well.
Banner is calling Reid and McNabb out and telling them that they should be able to lead this team to a title. Both of them have two years remaining on their contracts and that’s not a coincidence.
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the team’s president letting it be known what his expectations are for this football team.
Reid played it off today when he was asked about the comment. He said Joe was merely complimenting the team’s scouting department.
Yes he was complimenting the scouting department but he was also calling him out.
This is a very talented team but they have a lot of work to do. The offensive line has to come together. Stacy Andrews might not even be ready to go yet. They’ve got to get them on the field together and get them playing as one.
Westbrook has to be rehabbed to the point that he can get the job done.
The rookies, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy and Cornelius Ingram have to be groomed.
