Curtis’ Groin Still Isn’t 100%

Just as I had suspected a couple of months ago at the OTA's, Kevin Curtis is still being bothered by the sports hernia surgery.  He said he longs for the day when he can be 100% but he has no plans of missing any practices or games.

The problem with that is the fact that it might not be up to him whether he's going to miss a practice or a game.  That groin can get so bad that he might not be able to practice. Starting out the preseason with the injury isn't good news at all.

Remember former Eagles tight end and current Raven, L.J. Smith, who had the same surgery and is still having problems with his groin.

Donovan McNabb talked about it during his news conference.  He said it took about a year for him to feel right.  It's been much less than a year since Curtis had additional surgery on his groin.

Kevin even said the surgeon saw scar tissue from injuries he had suffered earlier in his career.

This could be an issue if Kevin misses any time in training camp.  If he does it's going to elevate Reggie Brown's status with the team, as long as Reggie is having a good camp.

Remember Curtis is an older receiver who is making a lot more money that Brown. He's also had a surgery during training camp a year ago and another surgery during this past off season.

You know the way the Eagles feel about aging injured players.  Curtis had better watch his back and he must find a way to stay on the practice field. Remember I told you.

I still believe he pushed himself into action during the OTA's because Jeremy Maclin was looking so impressive.

Buddy Ryan used to say "availability is just as important as ability when you're talking about players in the NFL.

On another note, Reggie did his best to suck up to McNabb during the OTA's.  He was following him around like a puppy dog.  Brown and McNabb have never been especially close which has been to Brown's detriment.  It seems that Reggie has decided to do whatever he must do to develop a close relationship with McNabb.
