Donovan McNabb said we can't get ahead of ourselves. As far he's concerned the rookies that have come to the Eagles have to prove they can do the job on this level. He said what they did in college doesn't mean they can do the same thing in the NFL.
Donovan likes the potential of the young players but he's not going to get ahead of the fact that they haven't proven themselves. The term he used was premature, which is very accurate.
These youngters have to first learn what they're doing then go out there and show everybody that they can do it on this level.
McNabb doesn't think the comments by team president Joe Banner puts any more pressure on him or the coaching staff. I personally think Joe was trying to make it clear that he's expecting an NFL Championship this year.
I don't think there can be any more pressure put on them because Andy Reid and McNabb know they've got to win now. They have two years to get it done.
McNab said the fact that Brian Dawkins, Tre Thomas and Jon Runyan aren't around any more does change his role a bit, but he's going to continue being himself.
I did detect McNabb trying to conduct the news conference in a different style, although he doesn't seem to be able to resist kidding around.
He told a joke about Terrell Owens when he was asked about T.O.'s new reality show. When asked how they could improve it, McNabb responded,"Don't do it anymore".
As for LeSean McCoy, McNabb doesn't want to put too much weight on him. He wants to make sure they pace out the carries and plays for the youngster so he doesn't get burned out.
He said he doesn't think Michael Vick should have to do more time. McNabb and Owens agree on that becauseT.O. talked about that yesterday.
