Ingram Owns Practice With Acrobatic Catches

Rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram dominated the practice today as he made a series of acrobatic catches to give us a glimpse of what could be for the Eagles passing and red zone attack.

He's got the height, arm length and leaping ability to really be a factor in the red zone.  You and I know the Birds need help there in the worst way.

If Ingram can dominate one-on-one situations to the point where teams try to game plan against him, it will open things up for other guys like Brian Wesrtbrook, who is deadly when left in one-on-one situations with a linebacker or safety.

Ingram also showed his intelligence when he talked afterwards about how he makes it a point to come down with the football when McNabb is throwing it.  The youngster realizes that it would help his chances,if he wins Five's confidence since he'll be the one deciding who to throw the ball to.

A quarterback makes the throw on the fade route only if he trusts the guy hes throwing the ball to.  If he doesn't trust him he doesn't make the throw.

The youngster talked about how McNabb has made things easy for him but welcoming him to the team and making him one of the guys right away.

On one play downfield in the seam, Ingram made a diving and rolling catch on a Kevin Kolb pass.  On the way back to the huddle, you could hear McNabb yelling, "good catch 88".

Five realizes that this young man could serve as another weapon teams have to worry about and he could give them some major help in the red zone.

Remember that Ingram will be joining another red zone weapon, starting tight end Brent Celek on the field, which means they both will be targets when the Eagles get near the end zone.
