Well, we found out something else we already knew. We knew Manny was on the juice (50-game suspension was strong indication), but now we know Big Papi is/was too.
It has now come out that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were two of the names on the 2003 list of positive steroids tests. Remember when Ortiz went on ESPN and said that a positive test would disrespect his family and friends? Well if that's the case, consider them disrespected.
And consider the Curse of the Bambino back on. If you want to seriously annoy a Red Sox fan today, tell them that they technically still don't have a championship since the early 1900's. I lived in Boston for four and a half years, I have a pretty good idea how they will react.
But the bigger issue is that only certain names are leaking out from the 2003 round of testing. It's not fair to A-Rod, Manny and Big Papi that there are just a small handful of names that have surfaced. The players union agreed to the testing under the conditions that under no circumstances would any name ever come out. Well, some have and it's wrong.
At this point, all the names have to be released. It's the right thing to do.
