Who should the Eagles keep in back of Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy? Should Lorenzo Booker, Kyle Eckel or Eldra Buckley be the part of the running back corps this year?
The Eagles are going to have some tough decisions to make at the running back situation. Today after practice Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg praised the play of McCoy, Booker and Buckley.
McCoy did it all today. He picked up a couple of blitzing linebackers in the blitz drill. He ran the ball inside and has a knack for making tacklers miss in very small areas.
I like the fact that he's learned to get what you can immediately and not get into trouble by taking runs outside and looking to make the big run.
On a daily basis, he catches just about everything thrown his way and according to Mornhinweg has done a good job fulfulling his assignment on every play.
We're going to have to start calling Booker, Mr. August. He's looking good nearly every time they give him the football. I don't know how seriously Andy Reid is taking it but the slightly built Booker is making a passionate bid to stay on this football team.
He's making playing running inside and making a lot of plays running outside. There seems to be a big surge in his confidence this time around . Any time the Eagles defense gives Booker a sliver of light, he takes advantage of it.
I don't know that he will be able to be successful when the season starts but right now, he's getting the job done.
The surprise to me was Buckley but Mornhinweg said he wasn't surprised at all. Marty said they were very pleased with him during the OTA's.
I like this kid because he's got some size and strength plus he runs hard.
I think he would be a good change of pace complement to Westbrook and McCoy. He shows good speed plus the young man can catch the ball out of the backfield. I saw him do an outstanding job of picking up the bliz in today's blitz drill.
We'll just have to wait and see but I think he's been the surprise of the camp.
I'm going to take a close look at Kyle Eckel in this afternoon's practice. The Birds have him playing the fullback position which puts him at a disadvantage since the Birds normally only keep one fullback.
