The Eagles offense had an awful practice today with interceptions, dropped balls, false starts and Kevin Kolb walking off with a left knee sprain. Afterwards he said he would be fine, but they can't redo that practice.
On the play where Kevin was injured, he looked like he was lost. The defense sent a bltiz right up the middle at him and he held the ball until one of his blockers got pushed back onto his legs.
Bltiz recognition and reacting to it remains an achilles heal for the young signal caller.
He wasn't alone though.
On one play Donovan McNabb floated a pass to a crossing Jason Avant and Quinton Demps promplty stepped in front of it and turned it into a touchdown the other way.
McNabb was signing autographs afterwards and one of the fans told him he and the offense had a good practice and McNabb disagreed with him.
The veteran quarterback said, "No that was a sloppy one, we've got to do better than that"
He was a right.
Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg talked about all the balls on the ground and all the mistakes.
The offensive line had four of the five guys they expect to start when the season begins but they have to get on the same page before they have a chance to experience some success.
Jason Peters was at left tackle, Todd Herremans was at left guard, Jamaal Jackson at center, Stacy Andrews was at right guard and Winston Justice was at right tackle.
This was a great demonstration why the offensive line needs to get many opportunities to work together.
On many of passing plays it was close but no cigar.
