The recently signed tight end Rob Myers can run. Right now he's the fastest tight end they have on the field with Cornelius Ingram sidelined. I can't tell you right now that he can play, I'll need some time to get a look at him.
Eagles GM Tom Heckert says the Birds are going to take a close look at him on Thursday night against the New England Patriots.
This is going to be a tough job for Myers because I can tell by the way he's moving on the field that he's not sure of his assignments. It's understandable.
He's been here for three or four days and the Eagles will be asking him to go out on the field and play a game. He's got to seize the opportunity and make some plays.
Regardless of how Myers plays in his debut, Heckert and the Eagles are looking far and wide for tight ends.
Backup tight end Matt Schobel has been hurt for the entire camp and I think the Eagles should be trying to replace him. He can't block and he can't run. I will give him credit for being able to catch the football but the Birds should be trying to improve at his spot.
Free agent Eugene Bright can't catch and I don't think he has any chance at all of making this football team. He's got good size and decent speed but he's got a lot to learn.
The Birds may put him on the practice squad since he has never played the tight end position before. He was a defensive end in college at Purdue.
They may think he can improve if he's given more time to learn the position.
