My eyes are tearing up as I read about how L.J.Smith feels that people in the Eagles organization and the media were working agianst him when was a Philadelphia Eagle.
He made the following statement which I have trouble understanding.
"There were a lot of things going on there, a lot of internal things. There were several people in the organization that put things out [about me] in the media like bait. Like, 'Go get him.'
In my recollection L.J. was damaging himself with the way he played and the fact that he couldn't stay healthy. Numerous times he said thing which didn't project him in a good light.
Who will forget how he got so caught up into his contract negotiations that he talked about it all the time. If you asked him about a particlular play during a game, some how he wound up talking about his contract.
L.J. went so far that he said the Eagles coaches were deliberately not calling pass plays for him which would have worked because they had something against him.
"I felt like there were times when certain plays weren't being called for me," he said. "I don't really want to talk about it. As an athlete, you don't want to make headlines. You don't want to bring negative attention to yourself. I just tried to keep my head up and do my job. But it was hard, man. It was hard."
If he doesn't want make headlines then why would he be throwing around all these accusations.
Here you have a former Eagles player going out of his way to point fingers despite the fact that he's injured and missing in action just like he was when he was here.
Give it some time and they'll be saying the same things about him down in Baltimore that they're saying about him in Philadelphia.
