All the reporters smelled a rat yesterday, when Todd Herremans was missing from the practice field. Initially a reason wasn't given for his absence. Today Andy Reid announced that Herremans could miss the entire pre-season with a foot injury.
He has a stress reaction in his left foot which could become a stress fracture if he doesn't get off of it.
It will shut Herremans down for about four weeks, which will mean he is likely to miss most if not all of the preseason games.
Bottom line, three-fifths of the projected offensive line will be on the sideline when the Birds start their pre-season tomorrow against the Patriots at Lincoln Financial Field.
Shawn Andrews, who is projected to start at right tackle will be out of action because of his back.
The injury to Herremans will also likely mean that this offensive line will probably be unable to play together before the season starts.
One of the keys to good offensive line play is familiarity and consistency. Linemen have to be able to anticipate what the guy next to them is going to do against specific defenses.
Many times defensive players move split-seconds before the ball is snapped which doesn't allow for offensive linemen to communicate with each other before the snap.
