The Eagles are either very good actors or they are indeed trying to improve their football team and also do the right thing for the Philadelphia community.
I was shocked by this move by the Eagles, but after listening to Andy Reid, Tony Dungy and Jeffrey Lurie, I'm on board with it. They believe Vick can make a difference on the football field and in the community.
Is Vick going to make the Eagles a better football team and help them win a Super Bowl Championship? I don't know, but it's part of the chance you take when you sign anybody.
Vick was a great athlete and is still probably capable of doing things that very few people in the NFL are capable of. He is the perfect wildcat quarterback and could be a "lethal weapon in the all important red zone".
Jeffrey Lurie didn't want to give the okay to sign Michael Vick. He was moved by the sincerity he saw in Vick and the possibilities of what Vick could do as a famous person who was championing treating animals humanely.
I know that Michael Vick could make an impact to a lot of youngsters here in Philadelphia who are presently choosing a life of crime. Many of them wouldn't listen to anybody else but they would listen to Vick. Lurie believes Vick will take advantage of that.
Back to football, you have to give Jeffrey Lurie, Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb credit for taking a chance and sticking their necks out in order to improve their football team and make a difference in our society.
The ball is now in Michael Vick's hands.
