I really don't see a leader right now in the battle for the final wide receiver position. Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett and Brandon Gibson have all made plays when given the opportunity. I've got a feeling that this is going down to the wire.
Speaking of the wide receiver position, I don't feel good about the health of Kevin Curtis. When I see him standing for a moment in practice, he never seems comfortable.
He is kicking, stretching or twisting to get loose. It's like he's trying to get a kink of some kind out of his body but can't seem to get it done. I give him credit for battling through discomfort but I don't know that he can do it all season long.
This is something I'm going to keep an eye on all year.
I saw wide receiver coach keep Jeremy Maclin after practice to work on getting off of jams. He needs to improve in that area because he has the size to beat a jam.
The youngster must learn to use his hands better.
Jason Avant had nothing but glowing things to say about the talent of the quarterbacks on the team. He talked about Vick's arm and how with nothing but a flick of the wrist he can throw a ball 50 to 60 yards.
