I want to see their young offensive skill position players continue to show improvement. I'm talking about Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy , Eldra Buckley, Brandon Gibson and Rob Myers.
One of the most important functions these guys will play is in the special teams. Maclin dropped a punt last week and he's got to avoid taking his eye off the ball when he's under pressure.
McCoy had an outstanding first game and he needs to show that it wasn't a fluke. He needs to be reminded that running backs who can't pick up the blitz won't play.
I think Buckley is in the lead for the last running back spot. He did nearly everything right last week, scoring touchdowns, catching passes and making tackles on the special teams.
The decision at this position will be made partly because of special teams contributions and Buckley is shining there.
Gibson continues his battle to make the football team and that means contributing every way he can. Strangely enough, doing the job on special teams might help him more than making a few catches.
Young tight end Myers has shown some promise in the practices, I'll be looking for some plays during the game. He would help himself with a couple of special plays as well.
The offensive line will a get a lot of my attention. I've expressed my concern about sending the uproven tackles out there for this game.
The offensive line had some communication problems and you want to get that straightened out and we'll see whether some of these guys, King Dunlap and Winston Justice can play.
