I’m not down on the defense because of that long irst drive and the bomb to Reggie Wayne. They didn’t game plan for that game so I didn’t expect much against Peyton Manning and the Colts first team offense.
Sean McDermott and the staff just played vanilla coverages and ran a few bltizes. You’re not going to stop Manning and the Colts with these type of simple coverages.
Plus I wanted to see what the Eagles front four could do in putting pressure on Manning. Jason Babin stood out and is making it very difficult for the Eagles to release him.
I will put out that a defense can’t make mistakes like either Quintin Demps or Ellis Hobbs did on that touchdown. I hope it was Hobbs and not Demps.
If it was Hobbs then it was nothing but a communication break down. If it was Demps then that makes you wonder whether he can play back there.
He jumped the middle receiver and committed to him so much that it opened up Wayne on the backside. Manning is very good at looking one way and coming back to the other.
A safety can’t give up easy big plays like that.
I’ll get to the bottom of who messed up on that this weekend when the Eagles practice.
