Since he was drafted in 2006 Jason Avant has had to prove himself every year and increase his role and responsibilites. Last year was a good example of his potential, Big Red decided his slot guy would be Avant.

Despite the presence of Hank Baskett, Reggie Brown, and now the arrival of Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant has and continues make if difficult for Andy Reid to take this guy off the field.
The most natural transition for Jeremy Maclin is to at some point this season or next take over Kevin Curtis and become the #2 wideout. A transition that should not involve Curtis being slid into Avant's slot position.
Avant has showed great consistency and the hands needed to reel in some of Mcnabb's worm burning passes. The best thing Avant has going for him is Curtis is always lagging due to his inability to stay healthy.
Will the Eagles stick by him and designate him with the permanant role? I would hope so.
With the influx of quality receiver on the roster its important to keep Avant on the field. Look for Avant to prove his worth this year by some larger contributions and statistical increases.
