Tell me one play that Quintin Demps has made during the preseason which has made you have the confidence in him that he should be the guy to start at weak safety next to Quintin Mikell.
I’ll give you five minutes. Take you time. I know you probably are debating between those interceptions, which he has made or those Brian Dawkins like hits, which he has made.
It would be hard to choose if he had done anything that stood out. In my opinion, he hasn’t stood up and taken the starting job.
Still Demps is frustrated that the Eagles haven’t named him the starting weak safety.
“It’s getting kind of irritating, man,” Demps said. “It’s too close to not have a starter already. I just feel like we should already have a starter. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s getting irritating.”
He wasn’t through saying all he wanted to say, so he continued.
“If I had known it was going to be like this, this late, I would have probably worked extra. It’s kind of been a carousel for me, but I’m just going to go out this last game hopefully and just open some eyes and put it in cement that I’m the starter.”
I don’t like this situation at the safety position because they haven’t given Sean Jones a chance to start over Demps.
I want to see them move Mikell to the weak safety spot and put Jones in there at strong safety. That would be giving Jones a shot at the job. I think that is the best safety group on this football team.
Demps has had enough time to seperate himself from the competition and he hasn’t done it.
