The Eagles went into the off season with Quintin Demps in their plans as the starting weak safety alongside strong safety Quintin Mikell. There’s been a change of plans if we go by today’s practice.
Demps told members of the media today that rookie Macho Harris took the reps at weak safety with the first team defense in the closed practice.
Andy Reid and Sean McDermott have said that whichever safety started the season wasn’t necessarily going to be the same guy at that position every game.
This is an amazing development when you step back and look at the fact that the battle for the starting job was supposed to be between Demps and veteran strong safety Sean Jones.
Harris wasn’t even supposed to be in the picture but his steady play has helped him open the door.
Reid said all of them played well right after the Jet game but he also said he needed to look at the tape. I guess Harris looked best on the tape because it looks like he’s going to start the first regular game of the season and the first regular season game of his career.
