Michael Vick just spoke to high school students at a charter school, Nueva Esperanza Academy on Hunting Park in Philadelphia. He spoke on behalf of the Humane Society and stressed “doing the right thing” to the youngsters.
He talked about growing up with dreams of being a professional athlete. He described his childhood and his guidance from his mom.
Vick said he did something correctly by working hard in school and on the playing field, but he admitted to developing this bad side which involved dogfighting.
The quarterback said he knew that it was wrong but never really admitted it to himself. He and his buddies called it a sport.
Vick said now he realizes how wrong it was and wondered how he could do something so stupid while enjoying so much success in other areas of his life.
He encouraged the students to be the very best they could be in school and to stay away from law-breakers away from school.
Vick finished by telling them, “Doing the wrong thing is easy, but doing the right thing is hard. Do the right thing”.
