Adam Caplan of Scout.com tweets that Tony Curtis has been cut.  He had been speculating that Reggie Brown would be the one out the door now that Alex Smith is in the fold, but it seems like Tony Curtis is the odd man out.
Caplan really thinks this is a mistake because Brown doesn’t bring a ton to the table.¬† I think he’s extremely valuable as a starter opposite DeSean Jackson if need be.¬† We don’t know where Kevin Curtis is physically and Jeremy Maclin doesn’t look ready to be a starter.¬†
I know Brown has become everyone’s whipping boy, but who else would start outside in place of Curtis or Maclin?¬† Avant?¬† He’s a slot guy.¬† Baskett?¬† I don’t think so.¬† Brandon Gibson?¬† Please, not now.¬†
All that said, I really thought they liked Tony Curtis.  Guess not.
