During his weekly Wednesday news conference, Andy Reid said Donovan McNabb is making progress but that it’s too early to make any kind of decision on him. He also said that Kevin Kolb wil take the snaps today as the team’s starting signal caller.
Reid explained that they must wait until his broken rib becomes “sticky” before he can play. Once it’s becomes “sticky” it will stabilize in one position, then all that matters is how much pain, McNabb can deal with.
He wouldn’t rule out McNabb playing on Sunday and he wouldn’t say exactly when he would make a decision. Another time, Reid emphasized McNabb’s familiarity with the offense and the fact that he can run the offense with his eyes closed.
Regardless of what he was asked Reid wouldn’t rule out McNabb coming back and he pointed out NcNabb’s mental makeup and his toughness.
I think Reid feels McNabb is going to be available to play but he may have to hold him back.
After Reid left the auditorium, Westbrook came in and reiterated some of the points Reid made.
Westbrook says Donovan’s toughness and ability to deal with pain, may allow him to play on Sunday.
BWest jokingly said McNabb might be a little tougher than he is and might be able to deal with the pain better.
He didn’t have an answer for the difference in dealing with rib fracture as a running back as compared to a quarterback.
