Eagles players fined for celebration

According to Philly.com’s Bird’s Eye View blog, several Eagles players were fined for their role in a team celebration following Brent Celek’s second-quarter touchdown.

Jamaal Jackson, Stacy Andrews, Kevin Curtis, Alex Smith, Winston Justice and Celek were each fined $5,000 for joining in.¬† But DeSean Jackson was apparently the most over-the-top as he received a $10,000 fine.¬† He also received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.¬† Celebrations and on-field conduct seem to be a trend with Jackson.¬† But I would guess that as long as he keeps producing and finds ways not to get penalties, we’ll just have to accept that that’s the way he is.¬†¬†

Thanks to Jeff McLane for providing a YouTube link to the incident.

UPDATE:¬† Several readers raise an excellent point that I really wasn’t thinking about when I posted this.¬† Damione Lewis drove his knee into McNabb’s back after that play was over and he had scored a TD.¬† That didn’t result in a fine even though it is most likely going to cost the Eagles their star QB for a couple weeks.¬† Yet, don’t celebrate too much or that will cost you 15 yards on the kickoff and another $10k in your wallet.¬† I admit that makes little sense.
