On the first Saints drive all I could ask was, “When are the Birds going to start playing defense”? That was much too easy of a drive for a touchdown for the Saints. You’ve got to give them credit for the way they slice a defense up.
With third and short, Kevin Kolb threw a rope to DeSean Jackson who caught it in stride and outran everybody for the touchdown. Great start for the kid. It can’t much better than that.
Third play of the game goes for 71 yards and a touchdown. I know that’s got to be a shot in the arm for the kid. Now he can relax and play football.
This alsoallowed the Eagles coaches to have more confidence in Kolb going ahead. It seemed like the Eagles went into maximum protection on the play for the touchdown because it looked like the Saints got caught blitzing.
Chris Clemons with a stupid penalty on the punt, which will back up the Birds offense.
Jeremy Maclin lined up as quarterback and he gives the ball to Brian Westbrook on a sweep for big yardage. This is Andy Reid at his best.
Kevin Kolb made a good decision to throw the ball away on the 3rd down and long. He was under pressure and he didn’t take the chance of throwing the ball into the teeth of the defensive coverage.
Later on in the game he made some crucial mistakes. He’s got to know that you can’t make these mistakes and win.
That was a bad penalty by Joselio Hanson and Quintin Mikell because the Saints were originally going to start with the ball on the 25 yard line, now they’re starting the 45 yard line
Akeem Jordan hit Mike Bell after his long run and drove him into the ground. He’ll remember that one.
Good blitz by Quintin Mikell with the tackle in the backfield on Bell.
Nice stiff arm by Reggie Bush on Asante Samuel. They’re giving up too much yardage on these check downs.
Abiamiri is doing a nice job at defensive end both as a run and pass defender.
Sean Payton is one of the best in the business at game planning and he’s showing it today.
Great play by Akeem Jordan on the interception. He tapped it to himself and then came down with the football.
It was 3rd and two and this was a bad mistake by Drew Brees because it took points off the board.

So far the Eagles defense just hasn’t been able to get the job done so far against what has to be one of the best offenses in the National Football League. Sean Payton and Drew Brees are as good as they come in the football business.
The defense has to keep the effort up and hope that things start working their way. Of course the offense needs to get on a roll.
As I had expected, they’re keeping the Birds defense off balance and it’s making it nearly impossible for Sean McDermott and the Eagles defense to get them out of sync.
For years Payton had Jim Johnson’s number and he seems to have McDermott’s number as well. They do such an outstanding job of staying out of third and long and keeping the sticks moving.
The mistakes on special teams are unforgiveable because they’re things you can avoid.
Poor play by the defense, bad play by the special teams and a few mistakes by Kolb doomed the Eagles.
