The Turnovers At The Start Of The Second Half Killed Them

Eagles player fumbles the ballThe two turnovers, a fumble by Ellis Hobbs and an interception by Kevin Kolb,  at the start of the second half were the difference in the game.  They gave Drew Breez a short field with the Saints holding onto a four point game and he took advantage of it and the game was over.

I wasn’t crazy about all the “wildcat” stuff which the Birds employed in the first half of the game.

Brian Westbrook wasn’t moving like he was healthy.  He caught the ball outside one time and let one guy bring him down and that’s not the Westbrook I know.

The defense seemed like they were slowing the Saints down with only a couple of minutes left to go in the half.  A short completion to Reggie Bush turned into 29 yards with poor tackling and pursuit.

Breez dropped into the pocket and put it up for Marques Colston who went up and took the ball from Joselio Hanson and New Orleans now had a ten point lead.

Coston Pulls In TDKevin Kolb and the offense did a nice job of working their way downfield for a field goal to end the half.  Everybody thought this gave the Birds the momentum going into the lockeroom but little did we know.

We had no idea that the Birds were getting ready to fall apart.

Ellis Hobbs fumbled the kickoff and before you could sneeze, the Saints had turned it into a touchdown.

When the Eagles got the ball back, Kolb made up his mind where he was going with the ball before he saw where the linebackers were dropping before he  threw the ball.  It resulted in an interception and another seven points on the board.

The game was pretty much over from here because nobody felt the offense could score enough to close that big gap.
