Andy Reid just let everybody know that Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook and DeSean Jackson won’t practice with today for the Eagles because of injuries. It could spell trouble for the Birds if they can’t go on Sunday.
McNabb has thrown the football but hasn’t been able to throw with much velocity or length into the throws. The key to his ability to play will be the whether he’s taking a risk of injuring his ribs more by playing.
I personally don’t think he’s not going to play this week but you never know.
The swelling in Westbrook’s ankle went down a great deal and they think he could be able to go on Sunday but who knows about BWest any more. It looks like all the pounding has really made him injury-prone.
Who knows they may have to sit down BWest for this week to avoid having him limping through the rest of the season.
They may reason with the Westbrook injury like they probably will with McNabb that they can beat the Chiefs without him and why not give him a couple of weeks off (their bye week is next week) and let him get healthier for the rest of the season.
Jackson went through the walk through this morning but he’s not going to practice. If he doesn’t play it would be a major problem for the Birds. Expect them to scale back what they’re asking him to do.
He injured his groin on a third down run around end out of the Wildcat.
The Birds need to watch his injury because if he doesn’t get enough rest, it could bother him all year. They need this guy healthy because he’s going to provide a lot of big plays for the team as the season continues.
Football is a game of attrition and right now the Eagles are losing it. You can’t win a championship with too many of the your best players injured.
Generally the teams that advance to the playoffs and win championships are teams that are able to deal and with and avoid that injury-bug.
The Eagles will just have to fight their way through this tough injruy period.
