Eagles safety Quintin Mikell says he’s expects to see some of the same things the Birds defense tried to deal with last year in the NFC Championship game. It didn’t sound like good news to me when I started recalling what happened in that game.
You remember when the Cardinals took advantage of Asante Samuel playing off the receivers by running shallow crossing routes across the field to Larry Fitzgerald. Asante never got a hand on him until the Cards had built a 21 point lead.
I hope Sean McDermott gets in Asante’s face and tells him he can’t play off the receivers like he did in that NFC Championship game and in last week’s game against the Saints.
The Chiefs head coach is Todd Haley who was the Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator a year ago during the game which sent the Cards to their first and only Super Bowl. That game had a lot to do 
with Haley getting the Kansas City head coaching job.
Surely Kansas City is going to try the same game plan. the short routes across the field diffuses the Eagles blitzes and opens up their receviers for easy catches.
The Eagles defensive coordinator said he regretted that he didn’t try to pressure Drew Brees more often. He said from now on, if the Eagles go down, they’re going to go down doing what they do best.
He said the Birds are going to play to their strengths from now on.
I think the Eagles are going to attack the Eagles linebackers because it makes sense. They have problems covering tight ends and running backs.
McDermott said the Chiefs are also emulating some New England Patriots plays which quarterback Matt Cassell and general manager Scott Pioli brought with them from Boston.
McDermott said the team’s defense will be preparing for the system they’ll have to deal with and not just the personnel.
