Eagles Don’t Have Any Choice But To Use The Wildcat

An injured Westbrook walks off You’re going to see a lot of the Wildcat offense this week because Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg don’t want to have Kevin Kolb in many third and eights, so that Kansas City can pin their ears back and pressure him into mistakes.

They can’t just line up and run the football effectively with a gimpy Brian Westbrook and an offensive line that doesn’t seem to be on the same page in their run blocking.

The Eagles will probably field the same group that couldn’t run block against a poor New Orleans Saints squad last Sunday, so the Birds will have to again find a way to manufacture a running game.

Thankfully they’ll be playing the hapless Chiefs.

Expect to see a lot of Michael Vick and the Wildcat formation this Sunday and don’t bother complaining about it unless you would rather see more Westbrook off right tackle for two yards.

Andrews and Max Jean-GillesWho knows what Westbrook is going to be able to do this weekend.  The swelling in his ankle went down but I don’t know that there’s reason to celebrate that, when a recently surgically-repair ankle is blowing up so much.

I can hear the Chiefs defenders saying, “Which ankle is that”.

The guy who was supposed to be starting at right guard, Stacy Andrews is still functioning as a backup because he doesn’t have full confidence in his surgically repaired knee.

I watched him throughout the training camp and preseason, but never saw him fully put weight on his right knee.  You’ve got to be willing to push off of your lower body to move people off the line.

He knee seems to have a multi-leveled wrap with a knee brace over that and he never fully straightened it.  I think he maybe able to start playing after the bye.

Sidelined left guard Todd Herremans was on a cart yesterday at practice because he surgically repaired foot isn’t able to deal with the weight of his body on it as of yet.

You know the deal with Shawn Andrews and why he’s not out there.

That leaves us with Winston Justice at right tackle, Max Jean-Gilles at right guard, Jamaal Jackson at center, Nick Cole at left guard and Jason Peters at left tackle.
