Curvsports Exclusive Interview With Jeremiah Trotter

Trotter with knee upI had the opportunity to talk to an exhausted Jeremiah Trotter tonight. After an overwhelming day with the Philadelphia media, Trott was still ready to talk football.

Trott’s voiced boomed through the phone when I asked him what its going to feel like when he runs through the tunnel next Sunday,

“Oooh man, I can’t even think about that right now. I know I’m probably going to pause for about 10 or 15 seconds, soak it all in and just enjoy it man,” an ebullient Trotter announced.

To much surprise, number 54 Jeremiah Trotter was signed today to a one-year deal for the league minimum. Trotter was signed this morning and in pads by this afternoon ready to line up running backs in practice.

Trotter on run “I’m excited! I’m just really excited! Its all overwhelming at the moment, everything happening so fast, I was in full pads hitting just a few hours ago and I haven’t been hit in a year and half.”

Trott’s return couldn’t have come at a better time. With a depleted line-backing unit and a bye on Sunday, should give him Trotter enough time to be back in game shape come October 11th against Tampa Bay. Who happens to be the last team Trotter played for with a three game stint during the 2007 season.

“I’m glad it happened now with the bye week coming and I’m happy with the Eagles, just to playing in Philadelphia again is a great feeling, Trotter said.

Trotter held Philly’s starting middle linebacker job through 2006, earning two more Pro Bowl berths in 2004 and 2005. But the Eagles abruptly released Trotter in the summer before the 2007 season due to Trotter’s lingering knee issues. When I asked Trotter if his knee issues were going to get in the way of throwing the Axe he responded with,

“ Ohh No! You’ll definitely see axe next Sunday. It’s been in the tool shed I just had to sharpen it.”
