Week Four NFC Power Rankings

Jackson with ball and on the run Things are starting to clear up for the Eagles after four weeks of the 2009 season.  You can see who their competition will be in the NFC as they battle for a trip to the Super Bowl.

They’re going to have quite a fight to get to the playoffs and hopefully another battle to reach that game in February in Miami.

The Giants would have to be looked upon as being the cream of the crop because Eli Manning and the New York passing game is coming around.  Steve Smith seems to be on his way to the Pro Bowl while Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks could develop into quality receivers.

You know they have the defense and the running game, so you can seem how formidable they will be for the Birds.

Cole putting pressure on Manning Another NFC team that sits near the top of the conference is the New Orleans Saints.  In the last couple of weeks the Saints have proven that they’re capable of winning in ways other than out scoring the other team.

Their defense has carried them to victory for a couple of weeks with Drew Brees being held under wraps.  Brees isn’t unstoppable afterall.

I don’t think the Saints are as good as the Giants because they can’t enforce their will on you by running the ball down your throats or pressuring your quarterback, so intensely that you can’t run your offense.

I must give them credit for surprising me with the improved play of their defense during the last two weeks.

The Minnesota Vikings can match the Giants running game and defense, but the question for them will involve the old man they have playing quarterback.  Brett Favre has gotten the job done so far but will he be able to get the job done during the playoffs.

Somebody should keep track of every time Brett Favre is hit because it could wind up being the undoing of the Vikes.

At the present moment I would have to rank them as the third best football team in the NFC.

My next team on the list would be the Eagles.
