Romo Didn’t Know The Down & Dawk Doing Great Job In Denver

Romo under pressureClarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is saying that Tony Romo didn’t realize it was fourth down when he threw an incomplete pass to wide receiver Sam Hurd, who was being covered by Broncos star cornerback Champ Bailey.

The incompletion ended the hopes of the Cowboys, as they attempted to come back and tie the 17-10 game and send it into overtime.  Dallas was inside the Broncos ten-yard line but misfired on three straight throws.

Romo and Cowboys are 2-2 after four games and he’s having a tough time hitting open receivers and staying away from turnovers.

While pointing out the Cowboys I have to acknoweldge what Brian Dawkins and the Broncos are accomplishing in Denver.  They had a terrible defense a year ago, but with the addition of defensive coodinator Mike Nolan and Dawkins, this football team is 4-0.

Dawkins breaking up a passHe’s playing with the same emotion and impact that he did here.  I must admit I’ve been surprised at the level he’s playing at.

I saw him make a number of great open field tackles and he had the Cowboys receivers looking for him.

That’s what a great safety does, he makes the other team’s receivers drop balls and short-arm balls because of his presence.  I remember the play in this photo where Patrick Crayton wanted nothing to do with the ball because of Dawkins being in the area.

I still have to remind you that it’s very early and we’ll have to wait to see if they can keep it up.

Correll Buckhalter has been their leading rusher and also a key target catching the ball out of the backfield.

I don’t think the Broncos can keep it up.  I don’t think you can win with quarterback Kyle Orton.  I don’t think he has what it takes.
