I thought the Eagles would restrict how much they would have Donovan McNabb moving around this week but offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg says McNabb’s ready to do everything.
“It doesn’t look like he has any discomfort at all going right or left,” Mornhinweg said. “There will be no restrictions for him.
“Donovan and I had a quick discussion yesterday … I don’t think there is any reason at all to change the mentality going into the game. I think he’s feeling really good. Like I said, there are absolutely no restrictions. It doesn’t appear right now, for him the way he’s moving and grooving out on the practice field.”
Personally I think Mornhinweg is playing a game with the minds of the Tampa Bay defensive coaches. He wants them thinking the Birds are going to be open to calling any type of run or pass with McNabb but I don’t think that’s the case.
They’re going to have him wrapped in bubble-wrap. Remember McNabb got hurt on a play which has probably had Reid and Mornhinweg second-guessing themselves. He scored an extra touchdown with the score 31-10. There’s no way they’re going to risk his health with him not being totally 100%.
It’s going to have to be a very special circumstance to McNabb leave the pocket and take off downfield. There will have to be plenty of open space for him to take off running with the ball.
I’m sure they’re going to also tell him to slide if anybody gets near him. Expect to see a lot of sliding on Sunday from number Five.
