I had been asking the question for awhile. What has changed the Eagles? Why have they gotten so aggressive about bringing in the talent to win a championship?
Come on with DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown already on the roster, the Eagles moved up in this year’s first round and picked another wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.
They signed Michael Vick shortly after he got out of jail. He was the most radioactive player in the league and sure to bring controversy but they still signed him. Next up they signed Jeremiah Trotter who hasn’t played since 2007.
Are you kidding me, is this the Eagles organization which we have come to know? This would have never happened in the past.
The reason for the change in management style has been staring us in the face since last fall. The reason for their change in aggressiveness is because of what happened last year at Citizen’s Bank Park.
They saw that parade last year. They saw the millions of fans crowding Broad Street in an event that we will never forget.
It’s not that the Eagles didn’t want to win a championship but they realized that they may have to put more of an emphasis on it than they have in the past.
It’s understandable that the Eagles organization which has completely dominated the Philadelphia sports scene for the last two decades, isn’t comfortable with being second fiddle.
They can’t enjoy looking on the front page of the Inquirer or Daily News and seeing the Phillies but not seeing their Midnight Green colors.
They have been forced to sit in the background and watch all the love given out to the Phillies.
Still at this present time, the Eagles are kings here in Philly, but they know that it’s all in jeopardy as long as they continue to fall short and the Phils continue to win championships.
Were this Phillies team to continue to win and eventually go to the World Series and beat the New York Yankees, I don’t know that we could say that Philadelphia is still an Eagles town?
That is unless the Birds bring home their own title.
