News From Around The National Football League

Sheppard returns interceptionFormer Eagle and current Jet cornerback Lito Sheppard says the Bills aren’t utilizing Terrell Owens the way they should.

Sheppard who expects to return to the New York starting lineup after missing some games due to a quadriceps injury, thinks Buffalo should be getting the ball to Owens much more often.

Lito may regret making these statements after the playing Owens and Bills this weekend.

The battle between the Giants and the Saints this weekend could be a forerunner of a future playoff game. The team that wins is likely to be considered the best team in the NFC next to the Minnesota Vikings.

New York is hopeful that quarterback Eli Manning will be able to play despite the problem he’s been having with his foot.

Both of the teams are undefeated, but after this contest

How bad can things be down in Washington?

Head coach Jim Zorn is in so much trouble that the players have asked the front office to make a public statement about his job security.  I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard of players doing this publicly.

Understand that this is being done as the Skins get prepared to play the winless Kansas City Chiefs.

Do you remember former Eagles defensive end Jevon Kearse, who rejoined his former team the Tennessee Titans after a few years with the Birds?  Well last week he was deactivated for a Titans home game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Kearse has created a brouhaha once he learned of his deactivation by leaving the stadium and going home to watch the game with his family and friends.  He said he has no apologies and may do it again if he’s deactivated.

Don’t forget the Titans are winless.

Down in Jacksonville, running back Maurice Jones-Drew is angry about not getting the ball enough in a game in which the Jags were shut out.  He said he’s the second-highest paid decoy in the league.

Jones-Drew pointed out Reggie Bush as the highest paid decoy.
