I don’t want to see the Eagles get into the habit of letting defenses dictate to them who they’re going to throw the ball to.
Yes they should attack the defense but they must also get the ball to their best players.
I want to see them get the ball to their best receiver, DeSean Jackson at some level in every game, regardless of the coverages they’re facing.
You can’t let a team totally take away your number one receiver. If they put Jackson in motion, there’s no way the Raiders will be able to double him.
I know that last week the Birds chose to go the easy route and took advantage of the Buccaneers pathetic third cornerback.
I think that was the wise to do, but I don’t want to see them get into the habit of being totally controlled by the opposing defense.
Nobody knows how the Raiders are going to try to cover Jackson and his young wide receiver teammate Jeremy Maclin.
Jackson was torching teams until last week, unitl Maclin took over and exploded on the scene with two touchdown catches.
They can’t double both of them.
Oakland’s Pro Bowl cornerback Nmandi Asomugha could be assigned to Jackson and told to follow him all over the field. That would allow them to double Maclin with the safeties.
If the Raiders attempt that type of coverage, I want to see the Birds put Jackson in motion and force Asomugha to chase Jackson through all the traffic in the middle of the football field.
They could put Asomugha on Maclin and double Jackson with the safeties.
Asomugha has never been used in that fashion, so the Eagles are expecting him to line up on one side and cover whichever receiver comes out to his side.
We’ll have to wait and see what they decide to do. Remember to check out how the Raiders are using Asomugha, he wears number 21.
