I was pleased to see running back Brian Westbrook start to look like himself again out there today.
I thought they should have him used more by putting the ball on the ground more often.
The Eagles threw the ball 46 times and ran it only 14 times.
Why would the Eagles refuse to run the football even though they had no answer for the Raiders pass rush and blitzes? If good things weren’t happening when they threw the ball, why keep throwing it every down.
It made me think of that awful game against the Giants when they gave up 12 sacks. They couldn’t pass block the Giants yet they refused to run the football.
They had a backup left tackle, King Dunlap, in the game after Jason Peters went down with a knee injury, so there were plenty of reasons to run the football.
One of the ways to slow down a blitzing team is running the football at them.
Westbrook ran the ball 5 times for 50 yards and he caught 9 passes for 90 yards.
That’s the type of production that Westbrook is capable of.
