I hope we get the Cole Hamels who pitched in the playoffs and World Series last year, rather than the Cole Hamels who pitched this year.
He’s got to be mentally tough and realize that a great performance tonight will wash away all of this year’s disappointments.
Hopefully the Phils bats give him some runs early. That would get him relaxed and in a groove.
Hamels isn’t your classic Phialdelphia sports star. He’s got the hair cut in the feathered style fall over his face. And his voice is rather high for a World Series MVP, but he won the Philly fans over with his pitching and not his deep voice.
True fans don’t care about any of that nonsense as long as he’s getting the job done.
A strong outing by Hamels tonight could be a great foretaste of things to come. A sharp Hamels paired with Cliff Lee would give the Phils to strong arms to battle with the Yankees if they both make out of these series.
