I know you have been riding high with the Phillies, but don’t turn on the Eagles-Skins game on Monday and expect a blowout victory.
This is going to be a dogfight this week against the Redskins.
Regardless of which team wins, this one is going to be close. Don’t expect a lot of scoring.
Washington stinks on offense but they have one of the best defenses in the league. They’re the fifth ranked defense in the league.
The secondary is as good as any of the league. If they get a pass rush, look out.
The Birds must make sure to stay away from turnovers.
They do a great job of moving their cornerbacks up into the faces of wide receivers. The Skins have beat up the Birds receivers at the line of scrimmage in the past and left Donovan McNabb with nobody to get the ball to.
The Skins defense always give the Eagles trouble and this year they’ve got a big beast in the middle, Albert Haynesworth who could create problems for the Birds.
I don’t like the thought of matching Haynesworth up against Todd Herremans who is coming off an injury. He hasn’t been playing great, but is capable of overpowering an offensive lineman and getting in the quarterback’s face.
He can make big plays and cause turnovers.
The Birds will have to keep these guys honest with a running game. They need a big game out of Brian Westbrook in the short passing game.
He needs to break a screen or take a running play the distance. Once he gets going, I think it could open up opportunities for the Birds to get the ball to their wide receivers.
