DeSean Jackson: The Most Dangerous Weapon In The NFL?

Jackson on the runEagles wide receiver continues to make me think he might be the most dangerous weapon in the NFL.

Yes it won’t be long until he’s demanding a new contract from the Birds.  He may start coming to practice in a limousine, but this kid is so talented, I may agree to be the chauffeur.

DeSean can score from any where on the field any time he touches the football, whether it’s a run, pass or punt return.

Jackson seems to hit full speed on his second step.  H’e’s what I would call an ” instant explosion”.  There are no warning signs.  If you get into a foot race with him “he wins and you lose”.

The Redskins had no idea how fast he was until he hit the corner and exploded down the sideline on his 67-yard run on the Eagles first drive.

Jackson on the runTwo members of the Skins defensive backfield, LaRon Landry and DeAngelo Hall, who are supposed to be a couple of fastest players in the league, were in position to make the play but Jackson was running much faster than they realized, so they both took poor angles to catch him.

They were in Jackson’s rear view mirror and grabbing air by the time they realized how fast he was running.  I was expecting a Virginia State trooper to come on the field and ticket him for speeding.

He may be the fastest player in the NFL.  Once he opens up his speed, the defensive players on the field can’t believe how fast he is.

Jackson’s other touchdown was set up by Donovan McNabb moving the Washington safeties to his right but looking that way and pump faking the ball to his right.

DJax ran a “slug-O”  which is a slant and go.  Redskins cornerback Carlos Rogers bit on and swallowed the fake like a fish with a few minutes of life left.

McNabb then turned to his left and let the ball go deep.

Jackson was behind Rogers and the Skins secondary by 10 yards, but he started going into his dance before getting into the end zone and wound up with a minor injury to his ankle to show for it.

He’s young, talented and cocky, so Reid and his staff must try to keep him humble, but if he continues contributing the big plays, he’s be worth the trouble.
