DeSean Jackson will be named the NFC Offensive Player Of The Week for his dazzling performance against the Washington Redskins.
He’s turning into a walking-talking highlight film. Every time he touches the ball, there’s a chance he could make a once in a lifetime play.
Jackson is rewriting record books at the same speed that he’s been jetting to touchdowns. He’s the Eagles number one receiver and punt returner but he’s also making a huge deposit in the Eagles rushing game.
DeSean became the fifth player in NFL history to catch a pass for a touchdown, take a running play for a touchdown and return a punt for a touchdown in each of his first two seasons.
The Eagles are trying to find every way they can to get him the football and he’s doing something special with it when he gets his hands on it.
I’m concerned about his health. Can he stay healthy if they continue to give the ball to him on running plays? If linebackers get a good shot on Jackson, who is only 165 to 170 pounds, can he stay healthy.
I think it’s too big of a risk to take, so I’d like to see the Birds stop giving him the ball on running plays.
Like Brian Westbrook in the past, with Jackson the Eagles are one team, without him they’re another. It’s easy to figure out that without him they’re no where near as good.
Jackson was the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after the opening day game against the Carolina Panthers.
