Manuel: Pedro Martinez Will Start Game Two

Martinez in his windupIt will be Cliff Lee versus the Yankees in game one of the World Series for Phils.  Veteran Pedro Martinez will get the start for game two.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel made the announcement, today.

He handed the ball to Martinez a week and half ago and the veteran threw a masterpiece against Los Angeles.  He shut them out for seven innings and left the game with a 1-0 lead.

Next to Lee, it was the best outing of any of the Phillies pitchers.

This will mean that last year’s World Series MVP Cole Hamels will start game number three for the Phils.

I can understand why Charlie would make this move because Pedro will not be awed by the imposing atmosphere of pitching at Yankee Stadium with the entire country looking on.

Martinez finishes an inningHamels isn’t pitching like the guy who won the MVP last year, so I agree with the move.

What about you?  How do you feel about it?
