My thoughts Eagles/Redskins

A win is a win is a win.¬† No, it wasn’t pretty, but it wasn’t pretty in Oakland either and they lost that game.¬† Any win against a division opponent is a good win.

So let’s look at Monday night’s 27-17 win over the ‘Skins:

What I liked….

-DeSean Jackson is a monster.¬† It’s not just his speed, it’s the ease with which he uses it.¬† His patience and vision have just as much to do with his big play ability as his speed.¬† He’s simply amazing.

-How is that Will Witherspoon trade working out?

….and not so much….

-I don’t like that I could only come up with two good points from the game.

-Donovan needs to be better.¬† It seems that every year there is a midseason funk on offense.¬† The good news is that he missed so badly that no one could catch it, including the defense.¬† You have to admit that even when he’s bad he somehow finds ways to avoid the costly turnovers.

-Not a fan of the offensive line.

-Not a fan of the stupid penalties.

-Trent Cole, you really couldn’t hold back?¬† Seriously?¬† Third and three and you fly into the backfield and hand them a free first down.¬† Just stupid.

-Why is Michael Vick on this team?¬† I don’t see anything good from him being in the game.¬† I don’t see the explosiveness he used to have.¬† He can’t run and they only throw it for five yards when he does pass it.¬† Stop this nonsense, please.

-Did the refs really almost botch that call?¬† The Redskins were ready to snap it from their 10 or so.¬† Then the refs said they messed up and the personal foul was on Philly, not on Washington.¬† That’s umm…..a big difference.¬† The ball was then spotted somewhere out near midfield.¬†

-That was an ugly scene.¬† Byron Westbrook standing over his injured brother with both teams taking a knee around him.¬† Thankfully he’s ok, but that wasn’t fun to watch.

-Did I mention that this offense is bad right now?  How much good field position did they squander?  Do that against the Giants and see how that turns out.

-Defense still can’t cover the tight end.¬† Chris Cooley was getting it early until he snapped an ankle.¬† Then Fred Davis – I said FRED DAVIS – started to roll and even got a TD.¬† Sheesh.¬†

-As bad as the Eagles offense is, it’s not as bad as the Redskins’.¬† Oh boy are they brutal on the offensive side of the ball.¬† Blame Campbell or Zorn or the Bingo guy or the o-line.¬† They are all bad.¬†
