The Phils are doing what great teams are able to do. They have superstar players who can take turns carrying the team.
Earlier it was Ryan Howard who was hot as can be and getting clutch hit after clutch hit. Now it’s Chase Utley’s bat that is doing most of the damage.
Individuals don’t win championship in individual sports, it takes multiple players to get the job done and that’s what the Phillies are doing.
Even now, I hear people wanting to give one player all of the credit but for the Phils to be where they’re at, it has taken numerous players to step up at different times to get the job done.
This is what championship teams do. When you have multiple great Hall of Fame level players, this is what they do when the chips are down. They take turns carrying the squad.
Utley has tied Reggie Jackson for the most home runs in a World Series. Earlier Howard tied Lou Gehrig for consective games with an RBI.
When you’re tying the records of All-Time greats it means you’re amongst the best to ever play the game.
Now with two games remaining in the World Series they need all hands on deck. The Phils need Howard or some of the other bats in the order to wake from his slumber and take them to the finish line if Utley cools off.
I think it’s going to happen because this team will never quit. They’re never going to stop fighting.
It’s why they have one championship and why I think chances are good they’re going to have anotehr one. They never say die.
