For whatever reason, as much as I’m an NFL junkie, I rarely look at league leaders during the season.¬† But just out of curiosity, I hit up NFL.com to see where certain Eagles players ranked in comparison with the rest of the NFL.
Here are a few I found:
-I didn’t really look up any for Donovan or Westbrook for obvious reasons.¬† They have missed several games.¬† Although I will say Donovan is one of only two QB’s (Kyle Orton) with one interception.¬† Even with the missed time that’s very impressive considering how often the Eagles like to toss it around.¬†
-Of receivers with at least 20 catches this season, DeSean Jackson ranks second in the NFL in average yards per catch with 20.9.¬† I don’t think that’s much of a shock to anyone.¬† Miles Austin has 21.7 down in Dallas.¬†
-Trent Cole is tied for 7th in the NFL with 6.5 sacks.¬† Well done, Trent.¬† Now, don’t go wearing down.
-Asante Samuel is third in the NFL with five picks this season.  The Bills Jairus Byrd and the never-aging Darren Sharper each have seven.  Side note: Did you know Jairus Byrd is the son of former San Diego Chargers cornerback Gill Byrd?  Remember him?
-Brent Celek is tied for fourth among NFL tight ends with 37 catches.¬† He’s tied with Antonio Gates and Jason Witten.¬† Not bad company, Brent.
-Celek is also fourth among NFL tight ends with 447 yards.
